Scandinavian Family Research Services
Research Services
Your Scandinavian family has a story. The challenge is uncovering the evidence that will help tell it.
Whether you're starting with a name and a place, trying to extend an established family line, or facing a research problem you haven't been able to solve, I provide professional genealogical research in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
I begin with what you already know, evaluate the available evidence, and follow the records wherever they lead—helping you discover not only names and dates, but the families, places, and circumstances behind them.
How I can help
Trace Your Scandinavian Family
Whether you are just beginning to explore your Scandinavian ancestry or want to extend an existing family line, I can trace your ancestors through church records, censuses, probate, land and farm records, military sources, court records, and other historical records. The goal is not simply to add names to a family tree, but to document relationships and learn more about where and how your ancestors lived.
Solve a Difficult Research Problem
Conflicting records, changing surnames, unfamiliar handwriting, missing information, and several people with the same name can bring research to a standstill. I can analyze the evidence, identify additional sources, and develop a focused research strategy to help resolve difficult questions and break through Scandinavian brick walls.
Find Places & Family Connections
Perhaps you want to identify the farm your ancestor came from, learn more about the community where your family lived, or locate living relatives and descendants in Scandinavia. I can follow the records beyond names and dates to help reconnect your family with the places and people that are part of its history.
What working together looks like
1.
Start with what
you know
You share what you already know about your family, the question you'd like answered, and any records or previous research you have.
2.
Define the
research
I'll review the information and recommend a focused research plan based on your goals and the records likely to be available.
3.
Follow the
evidence
I'll research the relevant records, analyze and correlate the evidence, and adjust the research direction as new information emerges.
4.
Receive the
results
At the end of the research phase, you'll receive the findings and documentation, along with recommendations for where the research could go next.
What you'll receive
Your research should be useful long after the project is complete.
At the end of each research phase, I provide the results in a format that allows you to understand what was found, see the evidence behind the conclusions, and continue exploring your family history.
Research report
A written report explaining the research conducted, evidence found, and conclusions reached.
Record images
Copies of relevant historical records located during the research.
Family tree information
A GEDCOM file and family history charts when appropriate, making it easier to add documented discoveries to your family tree.
Next steps
Recommendations for additional research when questions remain or new avenues have emerged.
